Country Coordinator

cynthia Cynthia Pang IBCLC is the Singapore Country Coordinator.

I am a registered, midwife and IBCLC. I have a Bachelor of Nursing from La Trobe University and a Master in Public Health from University of Queensland, Australia.

I am the Senior Lactation Consultant in-charge of the Lactation Services in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, overseeing the lactation program in the hospital since 1992. KK Hospital is a restructured, large tertiary hospital with a socio-economically diverse population from the four main ethnic groups in Singapore. I have been an IBCLC since 1993 and has recertified by CERPs and by exam.

Since 1994, I have been conducting lactation education for both KK Hospital and nurses from other health care institution in Singapore. I also conduct in-service education on lactation for doctors, nurses, allied health care staff and medical students. Currently, I mentor staff and staff from other health care institutions with clinical practice sessions to enhance their skills to assist the breastfeeding mothers. I have participated in the development of the MOH nursing clinical practice guidelines on breastfeeding for both the term and pre-term infants. I am also a regular contributor to a breastfeeding column for a local parenting magazine ‘Young Parent’. 

In August 2005, I was awarded the prestigious President Award for Nurses for my contributions to the profession and the community in the area of my specialization as a Lactation Consultant. In October 2005, I was awarded the KK People Developer Outstanding Trainer Award. Other awards received in recognition of my contributions as a nurse and lactation consultant include the National Day Award, Efficiency Medal in 2002, Excellent Service Award, Silver in 2003 and Excellent Service Award, Star in 2004. I am one of the founding members of the Association of Breastfeeding Advocacy (Singapore) and currently, an Executive Committee Member in-charge of Education for Health Care Professionals and members of the public.

As the number of IBCLC are growing in Singapore, more and more IBCLCs are looking for programs with CERPs for recertification. If you would like to read more about what CERPs are please click here.

IBLCE is offering all breastfeeding and lactation education programs in Singapore, that apply for CERPs in 2009 a special deal.
